Understanding CBD+THC Ratios: What 100:1 and 20:1 Mean
When a product is labeled with a ratio like 100:1 or 20:1, that ratio describes how much CBD is present relative to THC.
A 100:1 ratio means there is one hundred times as much CBD as THC.
A 20:1 ratio means there is twenty times as much CBD as THC.
That can be useful shorthand, but the ratio does not tell the whole story by itself.
Ratios describe relative amounts, not total quantity
A ratio helps explain the relationship between cannabinoids in a formula. It does not tell you how many total milligrams are in the product.
For example:
• CBD+THC 100:1 Oil Drops contain 200 milligrams of CBD and 2 milligrams of THC per milliliter
• CBD+THC 20:1 Oil Drops contain 50 milligrams of CBD and 2.5 milligrams of THC per milliliter
• CBD+THC 20:1 Topical Salve - Natural Unscented contains 3,000 milligrams of CBD and 150 milligrams of THC per 60-gram container
These products all use defined CBD+THC ratios, but they differ in total cannabinoid content and format.
Total milligrams still matter
Two products can have the same ratio and still have very different total amounts of cannabinoids.
That is why ratio alone does not tell you everything you need to know.
When comparing products, it helps to look at:
• the ratio
• the total milligrams of each cannabinoid
• the product format
A tincture and a topical salve may both include CBD and THC, but they are still different kinds of products with different specifications.
Defined-ratio products and isolate-only products are different
Some customers prefer products that include THC in defined amounts. Others prefer isolate-only formulations.
Our isolate products are made with a single cannabinoid and carrier oil.
Our CBD+THC ratio products are standardized to specific CBD and THC levels. In those formulations, the ratio is one part of the product specification, along with total milligrams and format.
There is no single ratio that is right for everyone
A ratio is simply a way of describing formulation.
A 100:1 product and a 20:1 product are not interchangeable just because both contain CBD and THC. They differ in concentration and proportion.
That is why it helps to look at the actual product details rather than relying only on the ratio printed in the product name.
